About

Welcome to Meridian Counseling! My name is Sandra Kushnir and I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I always knew my purpose in life was to one day create a program that helps others, de-stigmatizes mental health, and guides others towards living a full and authentic life.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah prior to completing my Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University, Northridge. On top of my masters, I completed additional training and experience which has allowed me to specialize in working with clients and families affected by addiction.

I created Meridian Counseling to be a safe space for clients—whether they’re struggling to define their identity, unsure about their career goals and direction in life, going through relationship issues, or being held back by debilitating problems with their mental health.

The journey towards change begins by understanding the underlying causes of problems, reconnecting to deeper feelings, and learning new coping skills. I would be honored to be part of this experience with you.

THEORETICAL APPROACH

My theoretical orientation is grounded in psycho-dynamic theory, I will often highlight relational dynamics that may be reenacted within the therapeutic relationship. The purpose of this is to help client's gain insight into their unconscious relationship patterns and explore the origins of these behaviors at a deeper level.   With  particular client's, I may use a more eclectic approach and incorporate interventions from other therapeutic models such as cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion focused therapy, family systems and mindfulness.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions related to my practice or therapy. Finding the right therapist can be an intimidating process and I am more then happy to answer any questions that you may have.
